Gilson Achieves FSC Certification
Grand Rapids, MI - Gilson, Inc. has received "chain-of-custody" certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). As an FSC-certified company, Gilson offers clients the opportunity to make more earth-friendly printing choices.
Chain-of-custody certification is an audited process through which wood and fiber are tracked from their original point of harvest in a responsibly managed forest, through the manufacturing process, printing and final delivery to the end user. To achieve and maintain certification, companies must undergo an annual on-site audit to ensure chain-of-custody policies and procedures are being followed for the handling, processing and labeling of certified forest products. "More and more of our clients are searching for 'greener' alternatives in every aspect of their operations," says Bob Glover, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. "And so are we. When it comes to printing, FSC certification is a way to ensure the highest level of social and environmental responsibility." The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, not-for-profit organization that promotes the responsible management of the world's working forests through the development of forest management standards, a voluntary certification system and trademarks that provide recognition and value to products bearing the FSC label in the marketplace. Gilson, Inc. is a full-service design, print and fulfillment company that serves a nationwide customer base from its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is one of just a handful of Michigan-based printers to achieve FSC certification. |
